What:
Oregon's Professional Educator Fair brings together top school districts and outstanding teacher candidates for a valuable time of information sharing and interviewing. (Customarily there are over 200 agencies participating in the Fair. The economic downturn may decrease the number of agencies and openings for 2010.)
A listing of "Who's Coming" is a button on the homepage. It shows the projected openings for agencies/districts that have registered. Usually this listing only shows about 40-50% of actual openings as many agencies/districts can't project that far ahead and will display them at the Fair.
When:
Tuesday, April 6, 2010 Open to all registered candidates
Wednesday, April 7, 2010 By Appointment Only (for interviews typically arranged on 4/6/10 to registered candidates)
Registration Fee for Candidates:
Online registration on or before March 30 is $15.00. Registration beginning at 8:00 a.m. on April 6 at the door is $25.00. Candidates will receive a manual upon entering that will provide information about employer booth locations as well as projected position vacancies communicated by districts when they registered.
Registration for Agencies is at variable rate based on student enrollment for Oregon districts and a flat rate for out-of -state agencies. Universities both inside and outside Oregon pay a reduced flat rate fee. The agency's main booth is supplied with electrical power as part of the registration fee. A single booth measures 10 X 10 feet with a draped 8' table and two chairs. Multiple booths are available. Wifi is available for a fee established by the Convention Center. Separate 8 X 10 interview spaces are available for both days of the event which provide a more appropriate setting for this activity.
Time:
Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., registration begins at 8:00 a.m.
Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (For Pre-scheduled Interviews Only)
Where:
Oregon Convention Center
777 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Portland, Oregon
Oregon's Convention Center provides a distinctive site for this year's Professional Educator Fair. Located near Lloyd Center-just across the river from downtown Portland-the Convention Center is one of the city's most attractive landmarks.
Besides the plentiful hotel accommodations available in the Lloyd Center area, out-of-town visitors have easy access to the Convention Center from hotels in downtown Portland. The MAX Light Rail line stops at the Convention Center and there is direct freeway access from the Rose Quarter exit off I-5 (exit 302A).
Plan to spend some extra time to tour this beautiful facility and the newly refurbished Lloyd Center area.
